Lindy Yokanovich, Esq. - Founder and Executive Director
Lindy Yokanovich, Esq. is the founder and executive director of Cancer Legal Care. Compelled to bring Cancer Legal Care to life after witnessing first hand the many legal questions and difficulties cancer survivors in her own family have faced, Lindy counts her work with Cancer Legal Care as the most profound and gratifying of her legal career.
A former litigator with the San Francisco law firm of McGlynn, McLorg & McDowell, Lindy also served as a member of the adjunct faculty at William Mitchell College of Law in St. Paul from 1997-2012. Lindy received her B.A. from the University of California, Irvine and her J.D. from the University of the Pacific/McGeorge School of Law.
Lindy was awarded the 2017 Women’s Health Leadership TRUST Forum Collaboration & Partnerships Small Company Award, was a 2016 Women’s Health Leadership TRUST Health & Innovation Award Finalist, was named a 2015 Unsung Legal Hero by Minnesota Lawyer magazine, received the 2010 Advocacy Award from Angel Foundation and was named the 2009 Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by the Judges of Minnesota’s 10th Judicial District. In addition to serving as a member of the Minnesota Cancer Alliance Steering Committee, Lindy frequently authors articles on cancer related legal topics and has presented over 60 seminars on the intersection of cancer and law to health care providers, attorneys, and survivors.
Lindy serves as a member of the National Cancer Legal Service Network, the Upper Midwest Health Care Legal Partnership Learning Collaborative, and is a recent past two-term member of the Minnesota Cancer Alliance's Steering Committee.
