Dear CLC Champion,
Welcome to this very first edition of The Occasional Connector: A newsletter for people who care all the time.
Balancing the intensifying drip-drip-drip of uncertainty with the what-I-know-to-be-true seems to be what we are all trying to navigate these days. This balance is what gave name to our tongue-in-cheek newsletter's name and our expectations for it.
We know you care! Thank you! We also know you are overwhelmed. We feel you.
One of the things I know to be true is the centering power that Cancer Legal Care's values of Human Connection and Compassionate Advocacy bring to our decision making, big and small.
The other day I had a powerful moment of Human Connection that pulled me out of my downward spiral of worry and has continued to reframe my thinking.
I stopped into Warped Records in Willernie and was complimenting Chris, one of the owners, on his great shop. Chris said he really appreciated it as he has heard something along the lines of "do you think you are going to make it?!" from more than a few folks.
Chris' reply: "What do you mean? I already have made it!"
The clarity and truth of these simple words are the perfect antidote to the endless loop of never-enough/always-behind/what-if that is so easy to slide into. In CLC's world, this means celebrating the power of 18 years of service as we meet each day.
