Finding Help During the 2025 Government Shutdown

The federal government shutdown has wide-ranging impacts on our community. We wanted to share the resources we use to keep on top of the changes that are occurring and the sources of support being offered.

LawHelpMN: Has information for Federal Employees, Public Benefits (tenant rights, SNAP and MFIP, social security, and energy assistance), and Food Resources.

Social Security Administration: Has information on what is happening at SSA during the federal government shutdown.

Second Harvest Heartland: Has information on food access.

Cancer Legal Care's list of Local Resources for People Affected by Cancer: Refer to our earlier blog post that is full of resources for financial support, food access, utility bills, housing help, and emotional support. We are updating this list as more resources become known to us.
