Advocacy Committee Corner
Alex Ginsberg, clc board member and advocacy committee chair
Cancer Legal Care's Advocacy Committee plays a crucial role in advocating for policies that support Minnesotans affected by cancer. The committee actively engages with the Minnesota Legislature, championing initiatives designed to alleviate legal and financial burdens faced by patients and their families. Our multifaceted advocacy efforts seek to ensure that the policies support, rather than hinder, the well-being of cancer patients.
A couple of the bills we are supporting this session:
Modernizing legal processes by promoting the acceptance of Electronic Estate Planning Documents, ensuring critical end-of-life wishes can be easily and securely documented.
Restricting the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Preauthorization Decisions. By advocating for a ban on AI-driven denial of care, the committee seeks to prevent biased or erroneous medical coverage decisions and ensure that human expertise remains central to healthcare access.
Cancer Action Day
On March 4th, Cancer Legal Care board and staff joined our partner organizations at Cancer Action Day at the Minnesota State Capitol.
We met with our representatives to discuss expanding access to no-cost cancer screenings for all Minnesotans.
We are grateful to our friends at the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network for making this day possible!
